The game seems to be a usual fleet management simulator. However, under the hood, the simulator is attempting to keep track of player biases towards different populations.
The tutorial and gameplay seems to show that certain color populations are better/worse at certain roles, but in reality all roles are exactly the same. The reported data shown by the game is not manipulated at all, so players that are paying attention would indeed be able to notice a discrepancy.
